Abstract
Radio JOVE, a NASA-supported citizen science project, provides a framework for studying planetary magnetospheres and solar activity through radio observations. The primary goal of this project is to construct a Radio JOVE telescope system to enable undergraduate observation and analysis of low-frequency radio emissions from Jupiter and the Sun. The antenna system will be constructed considering real-world effects to ensure accurate signal detection. The resulting system will generate radio spectrograms that capture time-dependent signal intensity, identifying any Jovian radio bursts and solar radio emissions. These observations will be used to investigate plasma interactions, and space weather relations associated with both Jupiter and the Sun. In addition to the construction of the telescope, a structured observing and data analysis schedule will support consistent data collection and interpretation. Observations will be conducted through scheduled monitoring sessions of Jupiter and solar activity, to identify radio burst events and emission patterns. This project will establish a sustainable framework for undergraduate research in radio astronomy within the university’s amateur astronomy club, enabling consistent observation and analysis of Jupiter and solar radio emissions. By integrating this system into a student-led organization, the project promotes long-term research collaboration that has expanded access to hands-on observational astrophysics.
