Tesla Motors Inc. designs, develops, manufactures, and sells electric vehicles. The history of the electric cars dates back to the 19th century but electric vehicles only became popular in the early 20th century. However, interests then declined because the resulting cars were unattractive in both style and high-level performance. This encouraged Elon Musk, founder and CEO, of Tesla Motors to investigate the feasibility of a zero emissions luxury sports car. From that small beginning, in 2003 Tesla has successfully outperformed and evolved the automotive industry. Our study will assess the challenges of a new technology company in the automotive industry through the company’s product, finances, and share prices and how all these are related to each others.
