The 2020 World Expo in 2022 is being held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. There is a heavy focus on global innovations when it comes to environmental sustainability. As constant damage is done to the Nile, there is heavy threat towards environmental and human security. The question, “How does the pollution of the Nile effect its surrounding countries and what innovations at the World Expo can be used to mitigate the long and short-term effects?” will be explored during this Expo. To research different innovations and different perspectives towards the threat, I will be attending conferences at the Expo that emphasize global innovation in water sustainability and mitigation. The Nile stretches across 11 countries—Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda, all of which will have a Pavilion at the Expo. They can show insight of how these environmental hazards are affecting their countries and how the innovations shown could help mitigate those issues. They could also show insight on the question of “What policy changes need to be made regarding the Nile River in order to ensure human and environmental security in the region?”. The solution/ innovation portion of the research will be conducted in the Sustainability Pavilion. Methodology being used includes observation, listening, documenting, photographing, and taking videos of the environmental innovations as well as conferences/ Q&A portions of the events in order to obtain data.
