The story begins in a high school setting, with a teenage girl as the main character. She is known as a “Plain Jane,” who wishes to become pretty and popular like some of the other girls at her school. Jane's wishes come true after her strange encounter with an old woman. At first, our Plain Jane is a bit overwhelmed but happily lives each day, enjoying the attention from her fellow friends and classmates. But as time goes on, her greed starts to grow as well, and her personality and behavior start to change. She starts wishing for other things as well and as a result, she is faced with a very harsh consequence at the end.
