Description
This paper provides a status report on the development of the Space Shuttle system. It includes a review of the system capability compared to its initial baselined system requirements, summarizes the major objectives accomplished during the development period, and gives a description of the Orbital Flight Test (OFT) program and the STS-1 mission profile. The STS-1 mission is currently scheduled for mid-April 1981 and, at the present time, there are no major obstacles remaining to the first flight. The results of this first flight test will be presented at the Eighteenth Space Congress.
