Aim and Scope
We are launching a new refereed journal titled Aquila: The Journal of Embry Riddle Observatory. Our journal name is motivated by both the constellation Aquila, which straddles the celestial equator and nods toward Embry Riddle’s near-tropical location, and its Latin meaning, Eagle, which is Embry Riddle’s mascot. The aim of Aquila is to publish high-quality observational research conducted at Embry Riddle Observatory. The Observatory includes approximately a dozen six-inch class refractors and reflectors, a 1-meter Cassegrain telescope, and will soon include a solar telescope. Research conducted with any of these instruments can be included, as well as papers describing the instrumentation and their calibration. The authors will primarily be Embry Riddle undergraduate and graduate students, though there is no restriction on who may author a paper as long as it is conducted with our Observatory facilities. To ensure high quality, all papers will be refereed, typically by astrophysics faculty at ERAU.
