The basic goal of this research is to understand impacts to general aviation (GA) stakeholders of the National Airspace System (NAS) due to space launch activities, particularly with respect to airports and airport users, near and around Cape Canaveral, FL. Several avenues will be assessed to determine what aspects of GA are impacted, where, when, how, and why. Data will be collected and analyzed. This research will assess how the general aviation and related airports are impacted. Primary data will be collected via interview or surveys to airport managers or on-site businesses. Further, flight data will also be collected to determine the number of flights into/out of these GA airports on non-launch versus launch days to provide an understanding of potential impact using secondary data. Also, this research will analyze data for possible economic impacts, whether positive or negative, and identify any other issues that are a result of the GA airport closures due to space operations.
