In 2002, Number 5 BFTS Association donated a grove of five birch trees (two English and three American) and a plaque, which honours the cadets who trained as pilots at 5BFTS, to the new National Memorial Arboretum. The trees acted as a gateway to the RAF Wing which contains a number of trees many dedicated to an RAF squadron. In 2006, Number 1 BFTS Association donated a tree, plaque and bench which stand near the 5BFTS grove. In 2024, with the agreement of 5BFTS Association members, a plaque, which honours cadets who trained as pilots at Number 4 BFTS, was dedicated at the NMA and now stands by one of the birch trees in the grove.
