Abstract
This article was written by Omayma Abdel-Latifin in Cairo and Samia Nkrumah in Rome, and it was published in the March 16-22, 2000 issue of Al-Ahram Weekly. It discusses Pope John Paul II's apology for historical mistreatment of non-Catholics by Catholics. The Pope failed to mention Arabs or Muslims in the apology, and many considered that a missed opportunity.
