Description

This workshop aims to present results from exploratory research that investigates culturally influenced factors arising from international radiotelephony communications as well as pilots’ and ATCOs’ perceptions of their threat to aviation safety. The final goal is to generate a taxonomy of intercultural factors that can be used as a tool to improve intercultural communications within the aviation community. Based on research data, workshop participants will rate the importance of some of the identified factors as safety issues, consider possibilities to incorporate them into training activities, and discuss strategies to address these issues in terms of testing and policy change.
