Biography

Jena Lynch holds an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language from Northern Arizona University. Ms. Lynch is an Aviation English Specialist for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Worldwide. She has taught Aviation English classes for the ERAU Language Institute and Flight Department and contributed to ERAU’s Aviation English curriculum development. In addition, she is a key member of the Language as a Human Factor (LHUFT) Committee at ERAU as well as an active member of the International Civil Aviation English Association (ICAEA).

Ms. Lynch is the lead developer and rater trainer of ERAU’s English for Flight Training Assessment™ (EFTA), an online English proficiency screening tool specifically developed for non-native English speaking flight students.

Ms. Lynch has nine years of English teaching experience, including at universities in the United States, Turkey, and Thailand. Ms. Lynch is also a certified Oral Proficiency Interview tester for the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). Her research interests include proficiency testing for ab-initio non-native English-speaking flight students, language as a human factor in aviation, and factors in intelligibility of voice-only interactions.
