Presentation Description/Abstract
A pioneer in low-carbon aviation, AURA AERO is committed to serve mankind by designing and manufacturing aircraft that accelerate air transport decarbonization. By combining the best in the aeronautical industry with state-of-the-art digital technologies, AURA AERO produces new generation aircraft with unrivaled efficiency: INTEGRAL, the two-seater training aircraft with aerobatic capabilities, available in thermic and in electric versions, and ERA, the 19-seater hybrid-electric regional aircraft. Once in commercial service, ERA aircraft produced in the first 10 years, which will replace older-generation aircraft, will reduce GHG emissions by the equivalent of 10 million tons over 10 years (GHG calculation validated by Bureau Veritas) To minimize emissions and the environmental footprint at every step of its activities, AURA implements a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) analysis and holistic approach starting with the material extraction and supply chain and ending with the decommissioning and recycling. The objective of this approach is to add the environmental note to the decision tree of the activities. Thus, AURA can identify contributions to environmental impact, which includes ecological impact and not just GHG emissions. AURA is studying four main areas of environmental impact throughout the life-cycle of the ERA aircraft : Air pollution, Human toxicity, Ecotoxicity, Natural resources consumption. This enables AURA to respect the Do No Significant Harm principle of the European Taxonomy Regulation which establishes that any economic activity contributing to environmental objectives should not qualify as environmentally sustainable if it causes more harm to the environment than the benefits it brings.
