Biography
Michael Kay has been in the aviation English field since the mid-1990s. Michael specialises in language training and testing for aviation personnel. He has a Masters in Applied Linguistics specialising in this language testing, and includes a dissertation on the construct validation of an ICAO LPR test (RELTA) in 2005. Michael has been involved in the design, development and implementation of Aviation English testing since 2003 when the ICAO LPRs were released – working with many countries in Europe, Asia and South America involved in establishing and implementing testing and training systems in response to the ICAO LPRs. He is currently the president of the International Civil Aviation English Association, and has been based in Bangkok since 2011, working with the Thai ANSP, Aeronautical Radio of Thailand.
