Biography
Eric Sarandrea currently serves as the Asia-Pacific Regional Director. As the Asia-Pacific Regional Director, Mr. Sarandrea oversees 6 TSA Representative offices throughout the region and provides senior level expertise on transportation security to 52 countries including approximately 47 last departure airports to the United States.
Mr. Eric Sarandrea has 28 years of government experience, to include serving as the TSA Executive Advisor to State Department, acting Executive Assistant Administrator (Director) of the TSA Office of Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS), the Deputy Executive Administrator of the FAMS, the Deputy Assistant Administrator for the TSA Office of Intelligence and Analysis, and the Deputy Assistant Administrator for the TSA Office of Inspection. In these various leadership roles, Mr. Sarandrea has demonstrated his ability to manage a diverse and challenging workforce and to handle the demands of TSA’s significant aviation security mission. His career includes working for the FAMS as a Regional Director, as well as a Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge of various offices. Previously, he served in the U.S. Customs Service as part of the Outbound Enforcement Team at John F. Kennedy International Airport, NYC as well as a Criminal Investigator within the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Inspector General. While assigned to the Department of Education, he received the award of Excellence for Bravery for his action on September 11, 2001 when he led his workforce and members of the public to safety, then returned to set up a medical triage site aiding and evacuating survivors from the World Trade Center.
In 1986, Mr. Sarandrea began his career in public service with the United States Army’s 82nd Airborne Division as an Infantry Team Leader. During his tenure in the Army, he served in Operation Just Cause and Desert Storm. Mr. Sarandrea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hofstra University and has completed the Harvard University National Preparedness Leadership Initiative (NPLI) Executive Education Program.
