Day 2 - A2: Infrastructure: Julie Womble
Julie Womble is the Community Development Director for the City of Auburndale, a role she has held since June 2021. With a 20 + year career rooted in public service and regional growth, Julie has been instrumental in the Central Florida Innovation District (CFID) since its inception in 2018. Julie has led the development of critical planning concepts and regulatory codes while coordinating with stakeholders, developers, and state agencies to cultivate a high-tech ecosystem. Her work is focused on securing future development that delivers high technology jobs and drives long-term economic development across Central Florida.
Julie’s career includes significant roles as a Planner and Community Development Coordinator for the Polk County Board of County Commissioners. Her diverse background also features disaster recovery and redevelopment leadership with the American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina and specialized work in workforce and mental health services.
A certified Redevelopment Administrator (FRA-RA), Julie holds a B.S. in Psychology from Southeastern University, an M.A. in Leadership from AGTS Seminary, and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Florida. She is an active leader in the planning community, previously served on the Florida American Planning Association executive board and currently serves on the Polk Vision Operating Board and the Central Florida Development Council Innovation Board.
