Biography
Galia Valtchinova is an historical and social anthropologist. Former senior research fellow at the Bulgarian academy of sciences, she is professor of anthropology at the University of Toulouse 2 and member of LISST (Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire Solidarité, Société, Territoires) research unit. Her current research focuses on religious dynamics, memory and history, national heroes and saints, and more specifically on the religious management of political dead bodies in the framework of “Transfunerary” Research Program.
