The Humanities & Communication Student Research Symposium
The Humanities & Communication Department Student Research Symposium showcases course-based undergraduate research projects completed each semester in participating courses and independent studies. Students from all majors are invited to participate, highlighting the critical and integrative thinking that students develop while exploring foundational ideas in communication, literature, languages, philosophy, ethics, and the arts.
Launched in Fall 2024, the Humanities & Communication Department Student Research Symposium is hosted at the end of each fall and spring semester. Each Symposium features:
- Poster presentations from a range of courses offered each semester
- Best Poster Competitions judged by interdisciplinary faculty and student partners
- Opportunities for students to share their course projects with real audiences
The HU/COM Symposium is part of the department’s dedication to providing students with innovative, research-based learning experiences in general education, major, and minor courses. Participating gives students the opportunity to:
- Present research in a professional, scholarly, and supportive environment,
- Receive constructive feedback on their work,
- Build communication skills, confidence, and professional presence, and
- Prepare for presenting at local and national conferences.
