Presentation Topics and Formats

If proposals align in topic, presenters may be asked to participate in a table discussion or group presentation. All accepted presenters will receive an official Florida Lessons from Abroad Conference Certificate. Presenters can find more information below, and questions can be addressed to the Conference Chair, Sue Macchiarella.

When creating a proposal, consider addressing questions such as:

  • How did you adjust to differences in academic expectations, teaching styles or classroom environments?
  • What was it like returning home after your experience? Did you experience reverse culture shock?
  • What challenges did you face while studying abroad, and how did you overcome them?
  • How did studying abroad shape your perspective on global issues or social norms?
  • What aspects of daily life in your host country surprised you the most?
  • In what ways did studying abroad influence your personal identity or sense of self?
  • What is something you wish you had known before leaving? How might that information have changed your experience? What advice would you give to students planning to visit your host country?

Presentations can take a variety of formats, including:

  • Traditional lectures
  • Poetry or journal readings
  • Videos
  • Skits
  • Music compositions
