Biography
Dr. Kevin A. Adkins is an associate professor in the Aeronautical Science Department, where he is Director of the Unmanned Vehicle and Atmospheric Investigation Lab (UNVAIL). He teaches aerodynamics, aircraft performance, and topics in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Prior to coming to Embry-Riddle, Dr. Adkins served as an officer and pilot in the USAF and spent over a decade in the engineering industry. He also holds numerous professional memberships, and is an elected Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

When did you start using OER?
I first started using OER in AS 309 and AS 310 during the fall semester of 2019.
Why did you adopt OER?
I love to use OER because of their more interactive nature, better graphics and to assist my students with keeping their academic expenses more manageable.
Why are affordable textbooks and/or OER important?
OER allow students to more thoroughly engage with the material and, consequently, better support their learning.
