Description
Learner-centered teaching (LCT) is where the students become the focus of the class and students provided learning opportunities (Doyle, 2012). LCT is effective because students can evaluate and learn from each other through small group work (i.e., collaborative learning). Class concepts are discussed as a class increasing student engagement and retention of information relating to class concepts. LCT shifts the focus beyond explaining the material to how students actually learn. To this end, our FLC shared articles and discussed many ideas, techniques, and practices for making our courses Learner-Centered.
