Biography

John Steinmeyer is currently Director of Space Launch Business Development for Orbital ATK’s Launch Vehicle Division. In this capacity he plans and executes Orbital ATK’s Space Launch Strategy and Business Development activities, and supports advanced launch vehicle development projects. John also serves as program manager for the Antares RD-181 main engine procurement from Energomash. John has almost 30 years of direct experience in launch vehicle design, development, manufacturing, integration, launch, and sales.

John has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from U. C. San Diego, and an MBA with an emphasis in International Business from the University Of Southern California Marshall School Of Business.

Prior to moving to Orbital six years ago he served as the Director of Mission Integration for Sea Launch LLC. In this capacity he led activities related to the integration of all satellites manifested on Sea Launch and Land Launch and was responsible for Mission Integration, Customer Engineering, Mission Systems Engineering and Advanced Projects. He also directly supported Sea Launch and Land Launch campaigns as certified Chief Systems Engineer and Assistant Mission Director.

Previously, he worked extensively on expendable launch systems for Boeing and the former McDonnell Douglas companies, holding positions of increasing responsibility in Engineering, Supplier Management and Program Management supporting the Titan IV, Delta II, III & IV, and the Japanese H-IIA launch vehicle programs. He held prior positions as Executive Staff Assistant to the VP/GM of Boeing Expendable Launch Systems, Sr. Subcontract Program Manager for Delta IV Propulsion Procurements and On-Site Major Subcontract Program Manager for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagoya, Japan.

In addition to his assignment at Orbital ATK, John serves on the Board of Directors for Focal Technology, a green technology start-up.
