Biography
Kim Ellis, Director of Earth Space Technology Pty Ltd is a qualified mining and metals manufacturing research scientist, lawyer and Adjunct Faculty member for the InternationalSpace University (ISU). Appointed as a NASA Postdoctoral Program Reviewer by USRA, Kim evaluates research on merit and provides recommendations for award of postdoctoral projects. Admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia, she is a member of the New South Wales Law Society, the American Bar Association, International Bar Association and was elected to the International Institute of Space Law in 2017. As an American Bar Association Forum on Air and Space Law committee member, Kim is contributing to the growth of the global Space Law profession through co-operative projects, contribution to international research and organisation of Legal Symposiums and space industry standards development initiatives.
Kim is a recipient of the Australian Government, Endeavour Executive Fellowship for international collaboration and recently received recognition as one of 125 significant graduates of the University of Newcastle selected from over 50,000 candidates, in addition to nomination for the Alumni International Leadership award. Characterised by media as a ‘Space Lawyer, Science and Technology Expert’, long term volunteer scientist with the Australian Government, CSIRO Scientist in Schools program, and mentors university students in Newcastle and Sydney, Australia. Assisting underprivileged local high school kids to raise funding for STEM education and speaking regularly for charitable organisations, Universities, Government Departments and Schools, Kim was selected as an inspirational keynote speaker for Rotary International Women’s, Day in 2016 and 2017. Characterised as a ‘Space Lawyer, Science and Technology Expert’ by the media, her regular media appearances via television and radio communicate the benefits of space technology and applications in ‘plain English’ for the general public.
Her company provides consultancy and research services for educational institutions worldwide, specialty STEM education outreach, space education curriculum development and industry and stakeholder engagement services.
