Ms. Suzy Cunningham is currently Kennedy Space Center’s (KSC’s) Strategy & Integration Mgr. for Communication and Public Engagement (CPE) where she works with NASA, Industry, Academic, DoD, & other state/federal leaders to research community, Center, and organizational issues and initiatives related to CPE and work on ways to help share the NASA story and inspire the next generation. She’s also the NASA liaison for AIAA, National Space Club, and Space Walk of Fame Foundation.
She’s worked at NASA KSC for 30+ years in various roles, from system & project management to business development, Spaceport Management with the AF & Space Florida, and strategic planning.
She has a BS degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and an MS degree in Space Systems Operations from the Florida Institute of Technology.
She knew she wanted to be an engineer as a high school freshman. She always loved airplanes, rockets, cars, motorcycles, science and math, especially abstract math.
She also loves singing, but didn’t want to be a starving artist after high school. So, she became an engineer and sings on the side, occasionally singing the National Anthem for launches and other Space-related ceremonies/events and performing at open mic nights.
She’s also active in education/outreach. She mentors K-12 students/new hires. She enjoys touring students, dignitaries, etc., sharing NASA’s story.
She’s a member of National Space Club, Women in Aerospace, and AIAA (Space Transportation Technical Committee & Technical Committee on Management).
She resides in Merritt Island near the nation’s Spaceport with her husband Phil.
