Description

A section of aluminum wing structure was redesigned using "boron-epoxy composite. It represents the first application of this material to a pressurized fuel carrying section of wing. The design tradeoffs, material properties, joint test data, manufacturing and processes and test data developed during the program are presented. The results of this effort have provided a broad technology "base for the application of the material to future aircraft structures.
