This paper discusses the process used at the University of Florida's Environmental Systems Commercial Space Technology Center to transition space-based technologies from a laboratory setting to the commercial market. The process focuses on early stage identification of commercial potential and the need to address both technical and business factors related to the development and commercialization of the technology. The technologies pursued relate specifically to environmental systems and biotechnologies used in supporting long-duration space flight. Examples of specific technologies going through the commercialization process will be high-lighted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the process and the opportunities for success.
