Presentation Description/Abstract
This study evaluates transportation options available to students at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in Daytona Beach, Florida, specifically between Student Village and Walmart. We are analyzing six transportation methods: walking, biking, personal vehicles, the Student Government Association (SGA) shuttle, Votran public transit, and rideshare services. These will be compared based on cost, travel time, safety, feasibility, and environmental sustainability. Transportation accessibility is essential to student mobility, economic well-being, and environmental sustainability. The findings will establish a framework for identifying limitations in existing transportation options and opportunities for improvement. As a preliminary step toward improving local transit infrastructure, this study aims to develop a data-driven model to evaluate future transportation solutions, reduce dependence on personal vehicles, and minimize associated environmental impacts.
