Dr. Amy R. Winebarger is an internationally known solar astrophysicist and rocket scientist. In 2013, she became one of the first female principal investigators for a NASA sounding rocket mission. To date, she has led or been a member of the management team of eight missions. When not in the lab or on the range, she is giving educational lectures or mentoring students as co-director of a Research Experience for Undergraduate Program. She is passionate about science, developing the next generation of instruments to learn more about our Sun, and diversity, equality, and inclusion. She works at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and lives in Huntsville, Alabama with her spouse and three daughters.
