Navigating the intricacies of aviation cyber security poses a considerable challenge, given the diverse stakeholders with competing interests in an ever evolving and complex ecosystem. This workshop strives to foster knowledge dissemination, collaborative exploration of future avenues, and a dynamic learning experience, especially for scholars involved in the NSF CyberCorps® Scholarship for Service (SFS) program and others interested in aviation cyber security. The objectives of the envisioned workshop encompass several key facets:
- Convening key stakeholders: The primary aim is to assemble crucial stakeholders in aviation, fostering the dissemination of the latest advancements in aviation cyber security.
- Mapping future frontiers: Identify realms of technology, research, and development, along with recognizing education and workforce training requisites. This is designed to cultivate joint interests among academia, industry, NASA, NSF, and other agencies.
- Empowering SFS scholar participation: Provide an immersive and hands-on experience, particularly for SFS scholars and other participants, through a competitive Capture-The-Flag (CTF) event centered on aviation cyber security. This engaging activity is geared towards enhancing practical skills and knowledge in the field.
- Enabling aviation stakeholders: Offer stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of the feasibility and severe consequences associated with new cyber and cyber-physical attacks within the aviation sector. The workshop aims to equip them with potential strategies to counteract these emerging threats.
