Abstract

This research addresses the critical need for precise aircraft localization and attitude determination during key flight operations such as landing. By utilizing the actual runway's corner coordinates and the camera image from the aircraft, the application of extrinsic parameter recovery methods enables the deduction of the camera's position and pose in relation to the runway. To validate the approach, a simplified scenario involving images of rectangles on flat surfaces at various orientations was employed allowing for a comparison of the computed position and pose against ground truth data. The results suggest a promising avenue for integration into aircraft flight operations, potentially enhancing navigational accuracy.
