Abstract
Major financial scandals have increasingly raised concerns about ethical business practices over time. Ethical behavior is essential to keep our economy running, and therefore ethics play a vital role in the job of an accountant. This project investigates the role of ethics in a future accounting career. Guidelines on how to act ethically in a future career as an accountant as well as courses of action to take in response to ethical problems will be discussed. References are made to the official codes of ethics from the Institute of Management Accountants and the American Institute of CPAs, which both outline specific courses of action to take in response to ethical situations.
