Abstract

We study the effect of the new product launch by Rivian automotive on their balance sheet and income statement. Rivian started off as a automobile manufacturing and tech company with a focus on electric vehicle manufacturing. In particular, they are pioneers in electric truck manufacturing by launching a fully electric pickup vehicles ahead of the likes of Ford, GM and Tesla. They launched the R1T in late 2021. While the financials of the company are not like conventional brick and mortar companies such as Ford and General Motors, they present an interesting perspective on how a startup company progresses as it launches a new product.

Did this research project receive funding support (Spark, SURF, Research Abroad, Student Internal Grants, Collaborative, Climbing, or Ignite Grants) from the Office of Undergraduate Research?
