Description

EagleCam team members performed a series of major drop tests in October 2020 to simulate the impact the CubeSat camera system will experience. With the help of university staff on a scissor lift, the team dropped the EagleCam prototype from a height of 28.5 feet into the Lunar Surface Environment (LuSE) Test Bed to evaluate the survivability of the camera and system components upon impact. EagleCam will separate from the Nova-C Lunar Lander at a similar height about 30 seconds before the lander touches down on the moon.
