About ERAU
In 1925, barnstormer John Paul Riddle met entrepreneur T. Higbee Embry, and together, they formed the Embry-Riddle Company to teach the adventurous to fly. Since then, Embry-Riddle University has emerged as a global leader in aerospace, engineering, and security studies. The College of Arts and Sciences, led by Dean Karen Gaines, is one of the fastest growing colleges on campus and comprises of five central areas of study, including security and conflict studies. Established in 2006, the Department of Security Studies and International Affairs highlights research and teaching in Global Conflict Studies, Homeland Security, Cyber Security, Terrorism Studies, and Emergency Management. Dr. William Lahneman is the current Chair of the SSIA Department.
