Abstract
This short story follows a middle school student, Zain, through a single day that unexpectedly teaches him a lesson in responsibility and priorities. What begins as a lighthearted day full of harmless pranks with friends quickly shifts into panic when Zain realizes he has forgotten to pick up his younger brother, Adin, from school. As Zain rushes frantically to find his younger brother, he encounters challenges and is faced with the fear of what he deems the worst-case scenario. The story emphasizes learning to prioritize and understanding our responsibilities to those outside ourselves. This is a story that blends humor with a bit of suspense, ultimately teaching readers that even small decisions carry consequences.
