Biography

Dr. Nancy Shane Hocking has spent over a decade in the airline industry where she has held several leadership positions in training, recruitment and pilot sourcing. Nancy has also worked extensively in education where she has taught students at both the secondary and post-secondary level. Her current role is managing the Pilot Gateway Programs at JetBlue.

Nancy has been involved in research on pilot sourcing, hiring and performance, specifically as those areas relate to the First Officer Qualification ruling and pilot supply. Recent conferences where Nancy has presented include the National Training Aircraft Symposium, Regional Airline Association and World Airline Training Conference and Tradeshow. Nancy is on the board of trustees of the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) and maintains strong relationships with both industry and academia stakeholders.

Nancy holds a Ph.D. in aerospace sciences from the University of North Dakota, a master’s degree in education from Harvard University and a master’s degree in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She is also a multi-engine instrument-rated pilot and holds an aircraft dispatcher certificate.
