Abstract

It is a pleasure and honor to work with a lot of young people and it is amazing how much they know. Much of their wealth of knowledge is about things they need to know to function in today’s high-tech world and job market. However, the other side of the coin is that GA needs to come into the 21st century and update the technology and systems we are using. We are trying to sell GA using old and outdated technology to an audience that has never lived without computers or cell phones. This research will look at what are the motivating factors for today’s young people both male and female to consider aviation as a career. Not only technology but for example, how exposure to aviation when young can help to motivate a child to grow and develop a desire to explore aviation as a possible career, especially for females. Airports and aviation are generally a closed area compared to 30-40 years ago when airports and aviation in general were more accessible and amenable to young people. This paper will expose ways of dealing with these new challenges.
