What were you doing on 9/11? (Or, What was your interviewee doing on 9/11?)

I was a Sergeant in the US Army and was getting ready to report to Warrant Officer Candidate School (WOCS) to become a Warrant Officer and start Rotary Wing Flight School.

How did 9/11 affect you personally and or professionally?

9/11 completely changed the trajectory of my military career because the mission of the military changed to focus on the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT). The focus of my career as a helicopter pilot post 9/11 wasOJT Counter-Insurgency Operations (COIN). This was a new environment and we had to learn to adapt while also finding ways to utilize technology developed for a linear fight.

What do you want future generations of professionals, particularly those going into your field, to know about 9/11?

It was definitely a horrible event that can happen again but to not let fears like that dictate your life or future.

On 9/11, what sector were you (OR your interviewee) in?

Military

On 9/11 what was your (OR your interviewee’s) occupation? (optional)

Human Resources/Warrant Officer Candidate
