R.W. Reflects on 9/11 as an Infantryman

Presenter / Creator Information

R. W., Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Document Type

Personal Reflection

What were you doing on 9/11? (Or, What was your interviewee doing on 9/11?)

I was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany. We were conducting training and toward the end of the day, I was in my barracks room and saw the news on TV.

How did 9/11 affect you personally and or professionally?

It was significant in that it changed our lives overseas. We were locked down and security became a much larger issue. Additionally, the global war on terrorism started and I was deployed several times in support of it.

What do you want future generations of professionals, particularly those going into your field, to know about 9/11?

It can happen at any time and everyone must stay vigilant and never forget. Do not let politics soften our stance on security in our nation.

On 9/11, what sector were you (OR your interviewee) in?

Airlines, Not a pilot

On 9/11 what was your (OR your interviewee’s) occupation? (optional)

I was an infantryman
