What were you doing on 9/11? (Or, What was your interviewee doing on 9/11?)
I was assigned as a Special Agent with the FAA Civil Aviation Security Office (CASFO), JFK International Airport, NY. And although I was worked the 4-12 shift, I was called up and directed to go to ISP Airport on Long Island, meet airline management, and shut the airport down.
How did 9/11 affect you personally and or professionally?
Homeland Security and TSA were established and a lot of opportunity in the field of AVSEC was created. I have been a member of the TSA Office of Global Strategies conducting Airport Security surveys around the world. You cant do AVSEC without thinking about 9/11 and the profound impact it left on the world.
