Personal Reflection

What were you doing on 9/11? (Or, What was your interviewee doing on 9/11?)

Washington DC/Pentagon and Walter Reed Medical Center. Based out of Davison Army Airfield, VA.

How did 9/11 affect you personally and or professionally?

Being there and experiencing the sights, sounds, smells, was a dose of reality on a profound scale. It was a tempestuous part of my military career and I am humbly glad to have been present to assist. That day was a day that (like Pearl Harbor) should also live in historical infamy. It should strike at the core of every American and cause reflection as to how we can be better and do better in one's professional career; because you never know when you will be called to do extraordinary things under extraordinary circumstances.

What do you want future generations of professionals, particularly those going into your field, to know about 9/11?

I would never have thought that something of that scale could have happened here on U.S. soil. It did. We need to ensure that future generations understand the magnitude of what occurred that day and its results decades later. Why? As a reminder that the delicate freedoms we hold close as Americans are one event away from potentially being lost forever. Never Forget. It is not just a cliche phrase... we should Never FORGET lest history could repeat itself.
