Neal De Bruyn Explains How Future Generations Can Excel in a Post 9/11 World
Document Type
Personal Reflection
What were you doing on 9/11? (Or, What was your interviewee doing on 9/11?)
I was working on a Lean Manufacturing Project at Raytheon Aircraft - Beech Field in Wichita, Kansas. We watched the second plane hit the 2nd tower live on TV in our Lean-ready room.
How did 9/11 affect you personally and or professionally?
It has given me greater strength through diversifying my background and education in becoming more flexible in my professional career after a brief break from the aerospace field.
What do you want future generations of professionals, particularly those going into your field, to know about 9/11?
Like all great aviators and support people, be prepared professionally for the unexpected. Train and continuously be a lifelong learner so your experience and talent can be put to use in a wide aerospace field. You may never know how you can put your talents, education, and experience to work in the future.
