Professor Michael McCormick recalls the range of responses of the American military on 9/11 and the days that followed – enforcing orders to land aircraft immediately, establishing Combat Air Patrols across the country, and developing new protocols for air safety such as Operation Noble Eagle, a coordinating teleconference involving the FAA, military, and other branches of government that continues its mission almost twenty years later.
