Presentation Description/Abstract

This presentation will propose different strategies that could potentially be used in different areas to achieve sustainability through innovative technologies and collaborative initiatives to reduce pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions. The significance of using new materials is relevant to our everyday lives, especially being involved with aerospace and aviation on a day to day basis, such as being a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Areas to highlight include using new materials to reduce emissions, implementing cleaner fuels, and enhancing energy efficiency throughout the entire lifespan of an air/spacecraft through design, manufacturing, usage, and disposal. The potential effects of technology such as electric and hybrid propulsion systems could revolutionize air travel and decrease carbon emission and it is crucial to have an open mind and global unity to allow policies to be proposed for sustainable practices shared internationally. Educating beyond our limits will involve different minds with creative ideas to create a sustainable environment that will not be affected by the human’s curiosities and ambitions. Ultimately, implementing the strategies previously mentioned, would support environmental objectives that would allow to reduce pollution, increase adaptability and competitiveness of aviation and aerospace industries, and create a more environmentally aware market.
