Welcome to the AtmoSense/AIRWaveS Conference!

The AtmoSense/AIRWaveS project spans ten organizations focused on advancing the modeling and remote sensing of ground-level impulsive disturbances. These disturbances, detected through ionospheric HF, GPS TEC measurements, and pressure sensors, pose challenges to current numerical models due to their extreme resolution and coupling requirements. The AIRWaveS team has addressed these complexities by integrating adaptive mesh refinement, multi-physics simulation frameworks, and synthetic data capabilities to enhance the understanding of atmosphere-ionosphere interactions.

Phase 2 of the AtmoSense program has successfully demonstrated the detectability of these signals across various radio diagnostics and provided new insights into improving source characterization—including amplitude, timing, and geolocation—through advanced modeling techniques.

What to Expect at This Conference

This conference serves as a platform to:

  • Summarize key accomplishments from Phase 2, including new field tests and numerical applications.
  • Connecting AtmoSense researchers with experts from related fields, such as Heliophysics, space weather, applied mathematics, numerical methods, remote sensing, seismoacoustics, and infrasound, will foster collaboration.
  • Encourage cross-disciplinary innovation through presentations from AtmoSense researchers and talks from broader scientific communities.

We look forward to engaging discussions, cutting-edge presentations, and new research connections that will drive forward the study of atmospheric and ionospheric disturbances.
