Hackathon

Welcome, team, to the Hackathon!

This invite-only workshop aimed to accelerate collaboration to advance AtmoSense/AIRWaveS's key computational objectives. We focused on improving the comparison between synthetic data from the computational team and experimental results from the May event, with the goal of refining accuracy related to program metrics.

Key challenges identified for this workshop included improving 3D simulation synthetics for GNSS data while overcoming limitations in postprocessing techniques and addressing noise issues in HF comparisons caused by raytracing through evolving plasma density. To tackle these, the team worked on implementing runtime TEC calculations by integrating GNSS rays into the model and developing runtime data sampling on a user-specified grid to enhance HF raytracing accuracy.

Building on previous hackathon efforts, we collaborated to finalize a prototype for GNSS synthetic data and modify the FIGMENTs framework to optimize sampling for GEMINI simulations. These enhancements will improve the accuracy of TEC and HF data comparisons while decreasing output data volume.
