Abstract
This proposal will describe the nature of our project to improve campus energy efficiency, particularly in HVAC systems. It describes a method of saving energy through the use of motion sensors and smart thermostats. This method is thoroughly investigated by extensive research and coordination with ERAU. The investigation includes a tour of the Lehman Building’s advanced HVAC systems. We anticipate that the installation of smart thermostats will reduce energy expenditures for most campus buildings by more than 10%. If this proposal is executed on, it could set a precedent for future investigation into HVAC efficiency and future construction planning both at ERAU and other commercial facilities.
Did this research project receive funding support from the Office of Undergraduate Research.
