Abstract

The Embry-Riddle MicaPlex low speed wind tunnel conducts all sorts of aerodynamic research and testing. However, the facility has no way of mounting, testing, or recording data from propellers. This project aimed to design a reusable system that will allow various propellers to be tested in different angle of attacks within the test section. Built from the ground up, this testing stand will connect seamlessly with LABVIEW for easy control and data collection. All of the components will be housed within an aerodynamic nacelle. This project was interdisciplinary and depends on the school’s resources for building supplies. The faculty at the wind tunnel are generously providing their expertise to assist in the completion of this testing rig. Once finished, it will be available for use by anyone at the MicaPlex Wind Tunnel to test different propellers.
