As our society grows in both numbers and technological complexity, so do the strains that these impacts place on our environment, economic and social resources. “For us, the living” a growing concern across the world is how to deal with these issues; are we being sustainable? This paper provides first hand research collected in Berlin, during an Embry Riddle sanctioned study abroad, on the attitudes and mindsets of the individuals within this city and their beliefs on sustainability. Why is it we do the things we do, and how should these initiatives be encouraged? The research project sheds light and provides an explanation for one of the most forward thinking major metropolitan cities in sustainability efforts, Berlin; a member of the C40 Climate Leadership Group.
