Abstract
The concept behind business jets isn't new, it’s actually a concept that’s been around since capitalism began flourishing. As the agency problem continues to increase, so do the lavishing amenity executives are provided by their companies, and so are the variations in business jets and those that manufacture them. Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation understands the complexity of the business jet industry all too well. Despite the tenure the company holds in the industry however, they still face strategic issues that are only exacerbated with the volatility of creative destruction that technology brings at the helm. Through the use of analytic tools such as Porter’s Five Forces and Strategic Group Maps, analyst are able to break the macro and micro environment down to better understand the strategic issues that the company faces. We use these same tools in our research in order to assess two of Gulfstream’s issues.
