Biography

Elizabeth Mathews is an Assistant Professor in Applied Aviation Sciences at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, focusing on the role of language as a factor in aviation safety. Elizabeth was formerly the ICAO Linguistic Consultant leading the development of the ICAO Language Proficiency Requirements, including ICAO Document 9835, Manual on the Implementation of the ICAO Language Proficiency Requirements, 1st Edition. Prior to her work in ICAO, she was the Director of ERAU Aviation and Academic English Language Programs at ERAU.
